General
The panic alarm allows a visual and acoustic alarm to be triggered by the anti-theft alarm system (ATA) with the transmitter key (A8/1) (e.g. in an emergency).
Function sequence when panic alarm and ATA are actuated simultaneously
The panic alarm has priority over the ATA alarm
If both alarms are actuated the panic alarm is output due to its higher priority and the ATA alarm is suppressed This alarm is still actuated in the background. If one of the two alarms is terminated or is interrupted, the other is still actuated.
General function sequence for alarm actuation by panic switch
Activation by panic switch includes several partial functions. These are:
- Trigger panic alarm
- Alarm output for panic alarm
- Interrupt panic alarm
Function sequence for actuating panic alarm
When the panic alarm button in the transmitter key is pressed for t ≥2 s, it transmits a radio signal via the FM, AM and CL antenna amplifier (A2/18) to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and relays it to the electronic ignition lock control unit (N73).
Parallel to the radio signal, an infrared signal is transmitted to the driver-side front door infrared remote control receiver (A26/1) (precise aiming required).
This signal is read in by the left front door control unit (N69/1) and transmitted to the electronic ignition lock control unit.
In both cases, the electronic ignition lock control unit checks the access authorization of the transmitter key.
If the access authorization is valid, the electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the "Activate panic alarm" command to the rear SAM control module.
It then outputs the requests for the visual and acoustic alarm via the interior CAN.
Alarm output for panic alarm
Alarm is output via the exterior lights, the interior lights as well as the alarm siren (H3/1).

Function sequence for panic alarm output
The acoustic signal is output by actuating the alarm siren by the rear SAM control unit via rear SAM-LIN.
The interior lights are switched on by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
The following components are actuated for the exterior lights:
- by the front SAM control unit:
- Left front turn signal lamp (E1e5)
- Right front turn signal lamp (E2e5)
- by the rear SAM control unit:
- Left rear turn signal lamp (E3e1)
- Right rear turn signal lamp (E4e1)
- by the left front door control unit:
- Left outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/5)
- by the right front door control unit: N69/2
- Right outside mirror turn signal lamp (E6/6)
The duration of the visual and acoustics panic alarm is the same, however, stored separately in the alarm siren and in the rear SAM control unit.
Function sequence for interrupting panic alarm
The panic alarm is interrupted when the panic alarm button on the transmitter key is actuated briefly.
The function sequence for interrupting the panic alarm is identical with that for actuating the panic alarm
