Remove/install dashboard lower section on driver side - AR68.10-P-1505T

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Detach instrument panel top section (8)   AR68.10-P-1020T 
2 Remove stowage box IMPORTANT Remove only until bolt (4) next to air duct (5) is accessible. AR68.20-P-2320T 
3.1 Remove radio On vehicles with code (510) Audio 20 incl. CD changer
or code (511) Audio 50 APS incl. DVD changer
or code (521) MB Audio 50 APS radio USA (without navigation)
or code (523) MB Audio 20 radio
or code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio

3.2 Remove COMAND operating, display and controller unit On vehicles with code (512) COMAND APS incl. DVD changer
or code (526) COMAND (without navigation) or code (527) COMAND APS (with navigation)
or code (527) COMAND APS with single
DVD drive (with navigation)

4 Remove left cover below dashboard   AR68.10-P-1500T 
5 Remove air duct (2) On vehicles with code (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning  
6 Remove selector lever release cable from EIS control unit (N73) IMPORTANT On vehicles with code (423) Automatic 5-speed transmission (NAG) AR80.57-P-1000T
DANGER Risk of fire and explosion caused by machining/treating magnesium components  Keep away from ignition sources and open flames. AS60.00-Z-0006-01R
7 Remove bolts (3) IMPORTANT The crossmember under the dashboard, into which the bolts are screwed, is made of a magnesium alloy.

8 Remove bolts (4)    
9 Remove left instrument panel bottom section (1) from air duct (5)    
10 Unhook hand brake release cable from release handle (6)    
11 Remove bolts (7)    
12 Remove interior fuse box (F34) from left instrument panel bottom section (1) IMPORTANT Leave electrical lines installed on interior fuse box (F34).  
13 Disconnect electrical connectors from EIS control unit (N73), rotary light switch (S1) and in-car temperature sensor (B10/4)    
14 Remove left instrument panel bottom section (1)    
15 Install in the reverse order
