Remove/install rear-end door - AR72.20-P-3500T

MODIFICATION NOTES

6.6.06 "Disconnect/connect battery ground line" removed
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being pinched or crushed  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lids, tailgates or sliding roof. Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
1 Remove rear door lining (1) IMPORTANT Remove all paneling from rear door (1) AR72.20-P-3520T 
2 Remove ground line from ground left rear door (W8/4)    
3 Remove ground line from ground right rear door (W8/5)    
4.1 Disconnect electrical connector from window antenna amplifier module 1 (A2/71) On vehicles with:
CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio
or
Code (526) COMAND (without navigation)
or
code (527) COMAND APS (with navigation system)
or
Code (528) HIGH Class USA
 
5.1 Disconnect electrical connector from window antenna amplifier module 2 (A2/72) On vehicles with code (860) TV tuner  
6 Disconnect electrical connector (2)    
7 Remove washer fluid hose (3) and disconnect electrical connector (4) from windshield washer nozzle    
8.1 Open self-adhesive felt (5) and disconnect telephone antenna connector (A2/49a1x1) On vehicles with code (354) Telephone antenna (D and E network)  
9.1 Open self-adhesive felt (6) and disconnect GPS antenna connector (A2/49a2x1) For vehicles with code (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio
or
code (527) COMAND APS (with navigation system)
 
10 Disconnect electrical connector from antenna blocking circuit (14) IMPORTANT Two electrical connectors.  
11 Disconnect electrical connectors (7) from rear door control unit (N111)    
12 Remove hinge cover (8) from both rear door hinges (9) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace damaged expansion clip on hinge covers (8)  
13 Remove right wiring harness (12) from rear door (1) IMPORTANT Observe installation position of right wiring harness (12).
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace damaged retaining clips and cable tie.
 
14 Remove left wiring harness (11) from rear door (1) IMPORTANT Observe installation position of left wiring harness (11).
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace damaged retaining clips and cable tie.
 
15 Unclip both cable guide hoses (10) from rear door (1) and pull left wiring harness (11) and right wiring harness (12) through openings in rear door (1)    
16.1 Mark installation position of rear door (1) on both rear door hinges (9) Only when rear door (1) is not replaced  
17 Unscrew bolts (13) from both rear door hinges (9) and remove rear door (1) from rear door hinges (9) IMPORTANT Use helper for supporting rear door (1).
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Repair paint damage on screw heads with corresponding touchup applicator
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA72.20-P-1004-02A 
18 Install in the reverse order    
19 Check adjustment of rear door (1), if necessary adjust rear door (1)   AR72.20-P-3510T 
20 Carry out function check
