General 

The radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) is the central operating unit for the entertainment and communications systems integrated into the vehicle. It consists of the following subfunctions:

• Volume/tone adjustments, function
• Voice control, function
• Audio mode, function
• Telephone mode, function
• Navigation mode, function

The displays and menu representations for the display are generated in the radio control panel and navigation unit. The following applications are shown at the same time in the instrument cluster (A1) as on the display of the radio control panel and navigation unit:

• Audio
• Telephone
• Navigation

Function requirements 

• Status "Circuit 30 ON" or "Circuit 15R ON"
• The Auto pilot system (APS) is working correctly

The radio control panel and navigation unit supports the following control units, which are available as special equipment:

• Digital Audio Broadcasting control unit (N87/3), with code 537 Digital radio and code 833 Great Britain version
• Sound system amplifier (N40/3) with code 810 Sound system
• Media interface control unit (N125/1) with code 518 Media interface

The radio control panel and navigation unit acts as a gateway. It routes the signals from the class B Controller Area Network Bus (interior CAN) (CAN-B) to the components of the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) and thereby forms the communications interface.
