Auto pilot system (APS), switch on and switch off characteristics - GF82.61-P-0001-07TXB

General information

The switch on/off characteristic comprises the following subfunctions:

Activating the overall system

When the vehicle is opened, all data bus systems are activated to ensure a faster switch-on procedure. After inserting the transmitter key (A8/1) into the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) and rotating to position 1 ("Circuit 15R ON") the display of the radio control panel and navigation unit (A2/56) is switched on, provided that it was on when the transmitter key was last removed.

The system that was active before the transmitter key was removed last (e.g. radio tuner) is switched on and the corresponding start menu is displayed. If the radio control panel and navigation unit was switched off, a warning notice is always shown with general information on using the system.

Conduct when pushing "ON" button

The radio control panel and navigation unit can be switched on by pressing the "ON" button, even if the transmitter key has been removed ("Circuit 15R OFF"). All the functions are then available for t = 30 minutes The radio control panel and navigation unit then switches itself off automatically.

Switch-off characteristics

The radio control panel and navigation unit is switched off when the transmitter key ("Circuit 15C OFF") is removed. The run-on time of t = 30 min. (standby) of the navigation system starts.

During the run-on time, all the important localizing parameters remain stored. The audio system's run-on time can be configured and is set when the radio control panel and navigation unit is installed in the factory. The switched-off radio control panel and navigation unit is always in "standby mode" if the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B) is active.

Switch off characteristics at undervoltage

In the case of undervoltage of the battery (G1), a message is shown on the display of the radio control panel and navigation unit asking for the engine to be switched on.

If the engine is not started, another warning appears after t = 3 min saying that 10 s remain to start the engine before the radio control panel and navigation unit is switched off.

IMPORTANT If the radio control panel and navigation unit has shut off and the on-board voltage increases again, the radio control panel and navigation unit does not automatically switch itself on again.

IMPORTANT The radio control panel and navigation unit can be switched on again manually. The warning procedure then runs again, until the cause for the undervoltage is rectified.

Switch off behavior (run-on mode) when the destination has not been reached

If the destination of the route guidance has not been reached, the navigation system in the radio control panel and navigation unit acts as follows when the engine is shut off:

"YES" = Route is calculated again.

"NO" = Navigation will cease.
