Satellite radio (SDAR), function - GF82.60-P-0006TU

MODEL 211.0/2 with CODE (536) SIRIUS satellite radio

After the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) is activated by pressing the "ON" button and the "SAT" menu has been selected, the SDAR antenna (A2/82) (up to 30.6.06) or SDAR antenna (A2/49a4) receives S-band satellite signals. The SDAR antenna (A2/82) (up to 30.6.06) or SDAR antenna (A2/49a4) is able to receive these signals also from terrestrial fill-in transmitters (usually in cities). However, the "Satellite radio" function must be enabled by a network operator to permit reception. When operated for the first time, the "SAT" menu displays the telephone number and the identification of the network operator on the screen.

Satellite receivers are characterized by a high number of storable channels in order to be able to cope with the wealth of available stations. Therefore, when the "Satellite radio" function is enabled, between 100 and 224 stations can additionally be received. Display and selection of the stations ensue via the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3).

S-Band satellite signals are sent over a coaxial cable to the SDAR control unit (N87/5), where they are processed and sent over the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3).

IMPORTANT Since modification year 07/1 the SDAR control unit (N87/5) (3rd generation) has been used, which is now also available for vehicles with code (460) Additional parts, Canadian vehicles. The SDAR control unit (N87/5) (3rd generation) differs from previous generations through the following features:
