Location

The SDAR control unit is installed on the right in the trunk, on a bracket on the wheelhouse.

Tasks

The SDAR antenna (2/82), with model 211.0 up to 30.6.06, model 211.2, or the SDAR antenna (2/49a4), with model 211.0 as of 1.7.06, receives the following signals:

S-band signals from satellites
S-band signals from terrestrial fill-in transmitters (mostly in cities)

Function

In the USA, the SDAR control unit can be installed as special equipment (SA). As a result, it is possible to receive digital SAT stations. However, this must be enabled by a provider to permit reception.

When operated for the first time, the SAT menu displays the telephone number and the provider ID on the screen. If the system is enabled, between 100 and 224 additional stations can be received. Station selection and station display take place in the same way as with radio operation.

Since modification year 07/1 the SDAR control unit (3rd generation) has been used, which is now also available for vehicles with code (460) Additional parts, Canadian vehicles. The SDAR control unit (3rd generation) differs from previous generations through the following features:

Improved reception properties
Temperature and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) properties have been optimized
