Remove/install camshafts - AR05.20-P-6992OM

REMOVING Removing     
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.		 AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
1 Remove cylinder head covers Model 164, 251 AR01.20-P-5014GZB
Model 203, 209 right cylinder head cover AR01.20-P-5012PI
Model 203, 209 left cylinder head cover AR01.20-P-5013PI
Model 204 AR01.20-P-5014CO
Model 211 AR01.20-P-5014TI
Model 219 AR01.20-P-5014TQ
Model 221 AR01.20-P-5014SXI
Model 461, 463 AR01.20-P-5014GY
2 Remove camshaft sprockets   AR05.20-P-6040OM 
3 Remove camshaft holder (6) and hold-down device (5) SPECIAL TOOL Figure
4 Remove camshafts (4)    
INSPECT Checking     
5 Check compensation elements for easy movement IMPORTANT Press compensation element with suitable pin by hand. Do not use a steel tool. Apply pressure to the compensation element using manual force. If the pressure is too high, the valve opens and the compensation element falls slightly. The compensation element is not defective.
IMPORTANT If a compensation element drops in comparison with another without great pressure ↓		  
Remove, install hydraulic valve clearance compensating elements
IMPORTANT If several compensation elements sink in, check the oil duct and oil feed bores of the compensation elements for contamination.		 AR05.00-P-2011GZB 
INSTALLING Install     
6 Lubricate compensation elements and camshaft bearing points    
7 Insert camshafts (4) IMPORTANT The markings (2) on camshaft sprockets are to assist with installation and must be precisely aligned opposite each other when used.  
Left cylinder head *BE05.20-P-1001-01J 
Right cylinder head *BE05.20-P-1002-01J 
8 Align camshaft sprockets of intake and exhaust camshaft IMPORTANT The markings (2) on camshaft sprockets must be positioned opposite each other. The markings (3) at the camshaft sprockets must be aligned with the cylinder head and lie on the left side.  
9 Install hold-down device (5) and camshaft holder (6) SPECIAL TOOL Figure

11 Install cylinder head covers Model 164, 251 AR01.20-P-5014GZB
Model 203, 209 right cylinder head cover AR01.20-P-5012PI

12 Check for oil leaks with engine running
