Check timing chain - AR05.10-P-7600GZB

REMOVING Removing     
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being pinched or crushed  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lids, tailgates or sliding roof. Keep body parts and limbs well clear of moving parts. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
1 Remove strut tower brace Model 164.8 only
IMPORTANT Remove spring dome strut at spring dome mounts.		 AR62.30-P-2500GY
2 Remove engine trim panel    
3 Remove poly - V belt   AR13.20-P-0001GZB
4 Remove right cylinder head cover   AR01.20-P-5014GZB
5 Position piston of cylinder 1 to ignition TDC   AR05.10-P-6858GZB 
6 Interlock camshaft (1) and camshaft (2) IMPORTANT Rotate engine in the direction of rotation (arrow) until it is possible to lock each camshaft with a retaining pin.  
SPECIAL TOOL Retaining pins Fig 2
INSPECT Checking     
7 Check elongation of timing chain NOTES Only rotate engine in direction of rotation (arrow) and do not turn back otherwise measurement errors can result.
IMPORTANT The elongation of the timing chain is checked indirectly via the position of the belt pulley (3) with the camshafts locked.
IMPORTANT The timing chain is OK if the belt pulley (3) is at the marking (4) at maximum 11° after TDC with the camshafts locked.
IMPORTANT If the belt pulley (3) is over 11° after TDC then the timing chain should be replaced:

Replace timing chain AR05.10-P-7601GZB 
INSTALLING Install     
8 Install poly - V belt   AR13.20-P-0001GZB
9 Install right cylinder head cover   AR01.20-P-5014GZB
10 Reinstall engine cover    
11 Install spring dome strut Model 164.8 only
IMPORTANT Install spring dome strut at spring dome mounts.		 AR62.30-P-2500GY
