Remove/install refrigerant compressor - AR83.55-P-5300GZ

ENGINE 113.964, 156.980, 272.967, 642.940 in MODEL 164 with CODE (580) Automatic air conditioning with CODE (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been discharged. IMPORTANT Notes on handling refrigerant R134a Air conditioning with refrigerant R134a AH83.30-N-0003-01A 
1 Turn key in ignition switch to position "0". IMPORTANT On vehicles with Keyless-Go, code 889:
Press keyless go start/stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off
 
2 Discharge air conditioning system   AR83.30-P-1760GZ 
3 Remove poly-V belt Engine 113.964 AR13.22-P-1202GZ
    Engine 156.980 AR13.22-P-1202GZS
    Engine 272.967 AR13.20-P-0001GZA
    Engine 642.940 AR13.20-P-0001GZB
4 Remove air filter housing Engine 642.940 AR09.10-P-1050GZB
5.1 Detach lower engine compartment paneling Engine 113.964, 156.980, 272.967 AR61.20-P-1105GZ
5.2 Remove noise encapsulation Engine 642.940 AR94.30-P-5300GZ
6 Disconnect refrigerant compressor connector (A9x1) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Engine 642.940: Note bracket for electrical line.  
7 Remove bolt (1) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA83.55-P-1003-01R 
8 Detach refrigerant-pressure line (2) and remove from working area IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace sealing rings of refrigerant pressure line (2) and moisten with refrigerant compressor oil.  
9 Remove screw (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA83.55-P-1003-01R 
10 Detach refrigerant-suction line (4) and remove from working area IMPORTANTInstallation:  Replace sealing rings of refrigerant suction line (4) and moisten with refrigerant compressor oil.  
11 Seal openings of refrigerant-pressure line (2) and refrigerant-suction line (4) using suitable sealing caps and stop plugs NOTES The openings of the refrigerant-pressure line (2) and refrigerant-suction line (4) must be sealed, as otherwise any penetrating dirt and moisture can damage components connected to the refrigerant circuit.  
12 Drain and catch oil Engine 156.980, refer to: ↓  
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Engine oil and filter change AP18.00-P-0101GZ
13 Remove double clamp (6) Engine 156.980  
14 Unscrew screw (7) from engine oil line flange connection Engine 156.980  
15 Disconnect engine oil line flange connection Engine 156.980
IMPORTANT Collect engine oil in reservoir.
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Set of stop plugs Fig 3
16 Remove bolts (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA83.55-P-1001-01R 
17 Remove refrigerant compressor (A9) IMPORTANT Place refrigerant-pressure line (2) and refrigerant-suction line (4) to one side.
Remove refrigerant compressor (A9) downwards
 
18 Install in the reverse order    
19 Check engine oil level and adjust correctly Engine 156.980, refer to: ↓  
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Engine oil and filter change AP18.00-P-0101GZ
20 Refill air conditioning system and inspect for leaks and proper operation.   AR83.30-P-1760GZ 
21 Do an engine test run and check for leaks
