Remove/install retaining lock for crankshaft/ring gear - AR03.30-P-5000GZA (ML350, ML550, GL450, GL550)

	Remove/install
	Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
	Risk of injury caused by moving parts that can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases, even sever extremities	No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating range of the mechanism when moving components.	AS00.00-Z-0009-01A
1	Remove left catalytic converter		AR49.10-P-7100GZA
2	Remove heat shield (5) of the propeller shaft at the front axle transmission
3	Remove bolts (3) on the transmission bell	Counterhold nuts (1) from the rear.

4	Unclip cover on "Starter opening on the left"
	Checking
5	Check splines of ring gear for drive plate	Check toothing for wear and damage, by continuing to rotate engine at center bolt on crankshaft in direction of rotation of engine. If necessary:↓
		Replace drive plate.	AR03.30-P-8001GZA

6	Insert retaining lock (01) in opening	Push the retaining lock (01) into the opening and let it latch in the ring gear. If required, continue turning engine at center bolt on the crankshaft in direction of rotation of the engine.
