	Remove/install
1	Move steering into center position	The front wheels must be in the straight-ahead position.
2.1	Activate Service mode in Tele-Aid emergency call system	Only for models 463.243/244/245/247/248/250/254/309/322/323/332/333 with TeleAid - car telephone emergency call system, code ET2	AR82.95-P-0005-03GR

	Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries	No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.	AS54.10-Z-0001-01A
3	Disconnect battery ground cable	All except model 463.248 with special protection version code 979	AR54.10-P-0003G

4	Remove steering wheel	Installation:  Replace bolt.	AR46.10-P-0100P
5	Remove clock spring contact		AR46.10-P-0200GS
6	Remove steering angle sensor (B24/8)		AR46.10-P-0300GS
7	Pull TPM with variable speed limiter switch (S40/4) out of the steering column switch module (2)	Installation:  Install TPM with variable speed limiter switch (S40/4) carefully otherwise the contact pins may become damaged.
8	Install in the reverse order
9	Activate steering angle sensor (B24/8)	Models 463.244/245/247/248/250/254/309/332/333 as of 30.9.01, Models 463.243/246/249/322/323	AR46.10-P-0300-01I
10.1	Deactivate service mode in TELE AID emergency call system	Only for models 463.243/244/245/247/248/250/254/309/322/323/332/333 with TeleAid - car telephone emergency call system, code ET2	AR82.95-P-0005-03GR

11	Read out fault memory	STAR DIAGNOSIS Stored faults which can result from lines being disconnected or from simulation during removal and installation or test work, have to be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work
