High beam control, function - GF82.10-P-3004TT

Function requirements 

Function 

The combination switch (S4) is set to the high beam position (2). The steering column module (N80) acquires the applied position of the combination switch (S4) and transmits "high beam On" via CAN class B to the driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1), to the passenger-side SAM control unit (N10/11) and to the instrument cluster (A1).

The driver-side SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) actuates the left high beam (E1e1) and the left high beam solenoid (E1l1) in the left front lamp unit (E1).

The passenger-side SAM control unit (N10/11) also actuates the same components on the right-hand side.

Due to the actuation of the left high beam solenoid (E1l1) and right high beam solenoid (E2l1) the covers, which mask off the lower part of the light beam with low beam, are moved away downwards. This in turn means that the full beam has recourse to the entire light beam.

The instrument cluster (A1) actuates the blue high beam indicator lamp (A1e3) and thus visually indicates that the high beam is switched on.

IMPORTANT The instrument cluster (A1) triggers a chime when the high beam is switched on, the transmitter key (A8/1) is removed and the driver door is open.

Headlamp flasher with daytime driving lights function 

The difference between the headlamp flasher and high beam lies in the switch position of the combination switch (S4). This must be moved to the headlamp flasher switch position (1) and held there.

The headlamp flasher and thus the high beam remain active as long as the combination switch (S4) is held in the headlamp flasher switch position (1).

Headlamp flasher without daytime driving lights function 

When actuating the headlamp flasher, the left high beam (E1e1) and right high beam (E2e1) are used. As the bi-xenon lamp has a longer start-up time, it cannot also be used for the headlamp flasher.

The left high beam (E1e1) and right high beam (E2e1) are halogen lamps and are only used for the headlamp flasher when the xenon headlamps are switched off.
