Remove/install steering wheel - AR46.10-P-0100TX

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Move steering wheel (1) to horizontal position IMPORTANT Front wheels in straight ahead position  
2 Remove airbag unit from steering wheel (1) Vehicles up to 2.3.08 except code (809) Model year 2009 AR91.60-P-0660TX
Vehicles as of 3.3.08 or with code (809) Model year 2009 AR91.60-P-0660RA
3 Remove countersunk bolt (2) while countering the steering wheel (1) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace countersunk bolt (2).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.10-P-1001-02A 
4 Electrical connector (3) of signal processing module Detach steering-column column shift (N135)    
5 Remove steering wheel (1), passing the airbag unit cables through the opening while doing so INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Assign the recess clearances of the serrations (arrows) in the steering wheel (1) to the markings on the steering shaft.  
INSPECT Checking     
6 Check whether a vibration damper (4) is installed When replacing the steering wheel (1)  
IMPORTANT Steering wheels (1) are available with vibration dampers (4) only. If a steering wheel (1) is installed without a vibration damper (4), then the vibration damper (4) must be removed from the new steering wheel, undo bolts (4a) to do so.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.10-P-1005-02A 
7 Check fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact (A45) for damage NOTES When the steering wheel (1) is detached, the fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact (A45) must not be twisted, otherwise it will be damaged.  
INSPECT Visual inspection, if necessary replace fanfare horns and airbag clock spring contact (A45): ↓  
Remove/install clock spring contact AR46.10-P-0200TX 
8 Install in the reverse order    
9 Conduct a road test INSPECT Tests during the road test:  
Turn signal reset   
When the steering wheel is offset by more than 1 tooth, satisfactory resetting of the turn signal is no longer guaranteed.  
Airbag indicator lamp   
The SRS indicator lamp must not light up on full steering lock in both directions.  
Steering wheel position (1)   
If the steering wheel (1) is crooked, adjust it by max. 1 tooth.
