DANGER Risk of injury  during testing and repair operations related to pyrotechnical components Do not expose pyrotechnical components to temperatures above 100°C or 212°F. Disconnect current supply when working on such components. AS91.00-Z-0008-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Adjust driver seat and steering column all the way back    
2 Switch on ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m)    
3 Disconnect battery ground line Model 219.3 AR54.10-P-0003TX

4 Remove brace cover (9) from steering wheel (2) Model 230.4 as of 1/29/08  
SPECIAL TOOL Mounting wedge Figure
5 Insert screwdriver bit into openings (arrows) at back of steering wheel (2) and remove screws/bolts from driver airbag (1) IMPORTANT Screws remain on steering wheel (2).

6 Remove driver airbag (1) from steering wheel (2) until electrical connectors (4) are accessible    
7 Release and disconnect electrical connections (4)    
8 Release and disconnect electrical connection (5)    
9 Release and disconnect electrical connection (6)    
10 Unclip lock tabs (3) and disconnect electrical connectors (7) SPECIAL TOOL Removal lever Fig 4
11 Remove driver airbag (1) from steering wheel (2)    
12 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check     
13 Check and erase vehicle fault memory using the diagnostic system When replacing the driver airbag (1).
