	Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

1	Deactivate easy entry/exit function	Vehicles with memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors) code 275 Otherwise the driver seat and steering wheel move to a different position, e.g. when the driver door is opened/closed. The upper frame may be damaged when the holding device is installed. It is switched off using the buttons on the steering wheel in the "Comfort" menu on the multifunction display, see vehicle owner's manual.

7	Detach high pressure and return line of rack-and-pinion steering (23) from the front axle carrier
8	Detach electrical connector (a) from control valve of rack-and-pinion steering (23)	For model 220, unclip line on exhaust shielding plate of steering coupling (23k) and on front axle carrier.
9	Detach exhaust shielding plate of steering coupling (23k) on control valve of rack-and-pinion steering (23)	Three bolts.
10	Remove heat shield (30) of steering coupling (25)	Model 211
11	Remove lower bolt of steering coupling (25) on rack-and-pinion steering (23)	To do so rotate steering coupling into corresponding position.	*BA46.10-P-1002-01E
12	Turn steering wheel to central position (front wheels in straight ahead position) and secure with the retaining device	On a disengaged steering coupling (25) the steering wheel should not be turned because the spiral contact coil will be destroyed.	*129589012100
13	Pull steering coupling (25) carefully out of the control valve of the rack-and-pinion steering (23) (predetermined fracture point on control valve)	Do not use force (hammer impact, strong lever action). 19	Remove rack-and-pinion steering (23)	Installation: The bolts (23a, 23g), nuts and contact surfaces of the support bracket (1g) and the front axle carrier must be free of oil, grease and preservation agent. Heating causes the lubricants to melt and spread, which may cause the bolted connections to work loose.
