Removing and installing brake shoes of parking brake - AR42.20-P-0530V

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the lifting platform and position the four support plates at the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. -
NOTES Notes on repairs to brake system   AH42.00-P-0003-01A 
1 Release parking brake    
2 Hoist vehicle with lifting platform until wheels are free   AR00.60-P-1000V
3 Remove rear wheels.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary   AP40.10-P-4050V
4 Remove brake disks on rear axle Model 171.473 AR42.10-P-0220AC
    Model 171.442 /454 /456 AR42.10-P-0220V 
5 Unhook retracting spring (111) SPECIAL TOOL using extraction and insertion tool (040) SPECIAL TOOL Removal and installation tool Fig 2
6 Remove retaining springs (107) using SPECIAL TOOL installation tool (041) IMPORTANT Compress retaining springs (107) and turn counterclockwise or clockwise through 90°.

7 Remove brake shoes (103) with adjusting mechanism (105) and retracting spring (112) IMPORTANT If the brake shoes (103) are burnt or the brake disk surfaces are damaged, the brake shoes (103), retracting spring (111, 112), as well as retaining springs (107) and brake disks should be replaced.  
8 Remove retracting spring (112) and adjusting mechanism (105) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Grease the thread on the thrust piece (104) and inner cylinder of the adjusting mechanism (105) lightly with MB-long-life grease. Turn back the adjusting mechanism (105) and mount so that the thrust piece (104) abuts the upper brake shoe.

9 Remove expanding lock (109) IMPORTANT To do this, fold up the expanding lock (109) and press the bolt (109a) out of the expanding lock (109) and rear cable (86) of the parking brake.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Grease bolt (109a) and bearing surfaces and slide surfaces on the expanding lock (109) lightly with MB long-life grease.
 
    Long-life grease *BR00.45-Z-1001-06A 
INSPECT Check     
10 Check parking brake cables IMPORTANT Check for ease of movement and chafing marks, replace if necessary: ↓  
    Replace front parking brake cable. AR42.20-P-0520V 
    Replace rear parking brake cable. AR42.20-P-0525V 
11 Install in the reverse order    
12 Adjust parking brake   AR42.20-P-0540V 
13 Bed in the parking brake brakes    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by body parts being pulled in by rotating vehicle wheels and roller dynamometer rollers Do not insert your hand into rotating parts. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Safeguard areas with rotating vehicle parts and dynamometer rollers against unauthorized access. -
    Safeguard roller dynamometer from unauthorized access.  
14 Carry out brake test on the test stand
