Adjust parking brake - AR42.20-P-0540V

MODIFICATION NOTES

23.8.05 Clearance adjustment value changed to 10 teeth Step 5
REMOVING Remove    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the and position the four support plates below the lifting platform support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. -
NOTES Notes on repairs to brake system   AH42.00-P-0003-01A 
1 Release parking brake    
2 Raise vehicle so that wheels are clear of the ground   AR00.60-P-1000V
3 Unscrew one wheel bolt on the left and right rear wheel NOTES Light alloy wheels must be removed due to the risk of damage.  
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary.   AP40.10-P-4050V
  Adjust     
4 Bring brake shoes (103) into contact with parking brake drum IMPORTANT Rotate adjusting wheel (c) by means of a screwdriver until the brake shoes (103) abut the parking brake drum and the rear wheel or brake disk (61) can no longer be turned by hand.
IMPORTANT Direction for bringing brake shoes (103) into contact: Turn left adjusting wheel (c) from the top downwards and right adjusting wheel (c) from the bottom upwards.
 
5 Loosen adjusting wheel (c) IMPORTANT Release left and right adjusting wheel (c) by the same number of teeth (10 teeth). It must be possible to rotate the rear wheel or brake disk (61) completely freely by hand.  
INSPECT Check     
6 Operate the parking brake lever several times and check the travel of the parking brake lever   *BE42.20-P-1005-01A 
7 Loosen parking brake and check unobstructed movement of rear wheels or brake disks (61)    
INSTALLING Install     
8 Fit wheel bolts or light alloy wheels    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary.   AP40.10-P-4050V
DANGER Risk of death  caused by body parts being pulled in by rotating vehicle wheels and roller dynamometer rollers Do not insert your hand into rotating parts.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Safeguard areas with rotating vehicle parts and dynamometer rollers against unauthorized access.
Safeguard roller dynamometer from unauthorized access.

9 Carry out brake test on the test stand
