Remove/install compressor - AR32.22-P-2001RT

MODEL 251 with CODE (488) Steel/air suspension with CODE (489) AIRmatic (air suspension with level adjustment and adaptive damping system ADS)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
IMPORTANT Notes on AIRmatic   AH32.22-P-1000-02RT
1 Jack up vehicle until the wheels are clear of the ground   AR00.60-P-1000RT
2 Remove fender liner front section in front fender IMPORTANT Front section of fender liner in right front fender. AR88.10-P-1310RT
3 Separate electrical connectors (1)    
4 Detach pressure line (2) from the AIRmatic compressor unit (A9/1) IMPORTANT Seal off the pressure line (2) using a blind plug for the duration of the repair work.
If pressure line connections or pressure lines (2) are damaged: ↓

5 Loosen clamp (3) and seal intake hose    
6 Unscrew nuts (4) and remove AIRmatic compressor unit (A9/1) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA32.22-P-1001-03C 
7 Detach AIRmatic relay (K67) IMPORTANT Only when installing a new AIRmatic compressor unit (A9/1).
When replacing, the AIRmatic relay should always also be replaced (K67) as the switching contacts may be pre-damaged.
 
REFER TO BASIC KNOWLEDGE Relay assignment of fuse and relay box in right engine compartment   GF54.15-P-1257-02RT
8 Install in the reverse order    
9 Check air suspension for leaks See Check AIRmatic for leaktightness. AR32.22-P-8100RT
