Remove/install brake shoes of parking brake - AR42.20-P-0530RT

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by handling hot or glowing objects. Wear safety gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A

1 Release parking brake    
2 Raise vehicle   AR00.60-P-1000RT
3 Remove rear wheels   AP40.10-P-4050RT
4 Remove brake disks on rear axle   AR42.10-P-0220RT 
5 Unhook retracting spring (6) using removal and installation tool SPECIAL TOOL Figure
6 Remove retaining springs (7). IMPORTANT Compress retaining springs (7) and turn counterclockwise or clockwise through 90°.  
7 Remove brake shoes (1) with adjusting mechanism (5) and retracting spring (2) IMPORTANT If the brake shoes (1) are burnt or the brake disk surfaces are damaged, the brake shoes (1), retracting spring (2, 6), retaining springs (7) and brake disks should be replaced.  
8 Remove retracting spring (2) and adjusting mechanism (5) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Apply light coating of grease to thread on thrust piece (4) and inner cylinder of adjusting mechanism (5). Turn back adjusting mechanism (5) and mount thrust piece (4) as follows:
Left side: Left thrust piece to lower brake shoes (1).
Right side: Right thrust piece to upper brake shoes (1).

9 Remove expansion lock (8) IMPORTANT For this purpose, fold down expansion lock (8) and press out of the rear parking brake cable.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Apply light coating of grease to slide surfaces on expansion lock (8).
 
Hot lubricating paste *BR00.45-Z-1005-06A 
INSPECT Checking     
10 Check parking-brake brake cables IMPORTANT Check for ease of movement and chafing marks, if necessary:

Replace front parking brake cable. AR42.20-P-0520RT 
Replace rear parking brake cable. AR42.20-P-0525RT 
11 Install in the reverse order    
12 Adjust parking brake   AR42.20-P-0540RT 
13 Bed in parking brake according to instructions.   AP42.20-P-4290-01BA
DANGER Risk of death  caused by body parts being pulled in by rotating vehicle wheels and roller dynamometer rollers Do not insert your hand into rotating parts. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Safeguard areas with rotating vehicle parts and dynamometer rollers against unauthorized access.
Safeguard roller dynamometer from unauthorized access.

14 Carry out brake test on the test stand AP42.00-P-4290BA
