12.12.02 Safety information on lifting platform, incorporated for the first time   AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
12.12.02 Check version of pedal assembly, included for the first time Step 12 BT42.20-P-0510-01A
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/Install     
DANGER Risk of death.  Death may result if vehicle slips or topples from the lifting platform. Align vehicle between the columns of the hydraulic hoist and position the four support plates below the hoist support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
1 Remove rear wheels.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE Remove/install wheels, rotate if necessary   AP40.10-P-4050Z
2 Remove brake discs on rear axle   AR42.10-P-0220P 
3.1 Fold forward and remove rear seat cushion Vehicles without code P98 Black Series  
3.2 Remove battery Vehicles with code P98 Black Series AR54.10-P-0005P
4.1 Remove cover panel under rear seat cushion Vehicles without code P98 Black Series
4.2 Remove cover panel under battery Vehicles with code P98 Black Series
5 Release adjustable slack adjuster   AR42.20-P-0525P 
6 Unhook retracting spring (111) using extraction and insertion tool (041) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Pay attention to correct seat of retracting spring (111)!

7 Unhook retaining springs (107) using installation tool (040) IMPORTANTInstallation:  Pay attention to correct seat of retaining springs (107).

8 Remove brake shoes (103) over rear axle shaft flange (68) IMPORTANT If the brake shoes (103) are burnt, the brake shoes (103), retracting springs (111, 112) and retaining springs (107) should be replaced. On vehicles with internally ventilated brake disks the brake disks must also be replaced.
IMPORTANTInstallation:  Turn back the adjusting mechanism (105) and insert in the two brake shoes (103) so that the adjuster (c) points in the direction of travel.

IMPORTANTInstallation:  Turn back the adjusting mechanism (105) and insert in the two brake shoes (103) so that the flat on the adjusting screw (e) points upwards.
On the left side the adjusting screw (e) must point in the direction of travel and on the right side towards the back.
 
9 Detach retracting spring (112) IMPORTANT Apply light coating of grease to thread of thrust piece (104) and cylindrical part of adjustment wheel (c).
Model 140 up to 31.10.93
IMPORTANT Apply light coating of grease to thread of bolt (b) and adjustment wheel (c).
 
Hot lubricating paste *BR00.45-Z-1005-06A 
    IMPORTANTInstallation:  The retracting spring (112) must be underneath the bolt (b). Make sure that the retracting spring is seated correctly.  
10 Remove expansion lock (109) IMPORTANT Apply light coating of grease to all bearings and slide surfaces on expansion lock (109).  
    Hot lubricating paste *BR00.45-Z-1005-06A 
11 Install in the reverse order    
12 Load adjustable slack adjuster Model 129, 170  
INSPECT Inspect     
13 Check version of pedal assembly    
REFER TO COMPONENT MODIFICATIONS Parking brake pedal assembly modified   BT42.20-P-0510-01A
14 Adjusting parking brake   AR42.20-P-0540A
