INSPECT Check
4 Check wheel bolts NOTES The round contact shoulders on the lug bolts must be free of oil and grease. Bolts with damaged threads, worn zinc plating on the radius seat or corroded radius seat must be replaced, otherwise they may shear off.
5 Check tires for damage and condition, and measure depth of tread   AP40.10-P-4051Z
NOTES Information on tires / rims   AH40.10-P-9411-01A
IMPORTANT Notes on measuring tire tread depth All models AH40.10-P-0006-01T

  • to ensure that radius seats are free of oil and grease
  • Damage to centering, radius seats and rim flanges
  • corrosion on contact surfaces

7 Check wheel hub, wheel bolt thread and brake disk bowl on wheel contact surface for dirt and corrosion IMPORTANT Clean corroded surfaces with a wire brush or emery cloth.
NOTES Dirty or corroded wheel bolt threads must be cleaned or recut. Any dirt or corrosion left in the thread prevents the wheel bolt from reaching the necessary preload force, despite the nominal torque having been reached. If the wheel bolt threads are damaged, the wheel hub must be replaced.

INSTALLING Install
8.1 Rotate road wheels if necessary, maintaining the correct running direction IMPORTANT Except vehicles with mixed tires on the front and rear axle
