REMOVING Remove     
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns  caused by swallowing battery acid. Risk of injury  caused by burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged leadacid batteries No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

1 Disconnect battery ground cable    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Disconnect/connect battery's ground cable   AR54.10-P-0003P
2.1 Remove stowage compartment in center console With front and rear speaker - without radio - code 533
IMPORTANT The stowage compartment is no longer required if it was retrofitted.
 
2.2 Remove radio With MB Audio 20 radio, code 523
IMPORTANT The MB Audio 20 radio is no longer required if it was retrofitted.
 
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Remove/install radio   AR82.60-P-7502PA
2.3 Remove radio and APS navigation control panel With MB Audio 50 APS radio, code 525
IMPORTANT The MB Audio 50 APS radio is no longer required if it was retrofitted.
 
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Remove/install APS radio and navigation operating unit   AR82.61-P-7412PA
3.1 Remove instrument cluster With front and rear speaker - without radio - code 533 or with MB Audio 20 radio, code 523  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Removing and installing instrument cluster   AR54.30-P-6015P
4.1 Remove/install cover below instrument panel (left) With front and rear speaker - without radio - code 533  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Remove cover below instrument panel (left)   AR68.10-P-1500P
INSTALLING Install     
5.1 Retrofit antenna for global positioning system (GPS) With front and rear speaker - without radio - code 533 or with MB Audio 20 radio, code 523 AN82.61-P-7474-04PB 
6.1 Install adapter wiring harness With front and rear speaker - without radio - code 533  
    IMPORTANT Connect adapter wiring harness between standard radio connectors and COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). They cannot be confused, since all connectors are coded.  
7.1 Retrofit wiring harness With front and rear speaker - without radio - code 533, wiring harness for CAN connection AN82.61-P-0001-01PA 
8.1 Retrofit AUX socket With COMAND APS (with navigation) code 527, with HIGH Class Japan code 529, with COMAND APS USA (with navigation) code 530, AUX socket in glove compartment AN82.60-P-0008P 
9 Retrofit operating and display unit with COMAND control unit    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Remove/install operating, display and control unit With COMAND APS (with navigation) code 527, with HIGH Class Japan code 529, with COMAND APS USA (with navigation) code 530 AR82.85-P-7472PA
10.1 Install cover below instrument panel (left) With front and rear speaker - without radio - code 533  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Remove/install cover below instrument panel (left)   AR68.10-P-1500P
11.1 Install instrument cluster With front and rear speaker - without radio - code 533 or with MB Audio 20 radio, code 523  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Removing and installing instrument cluster   AR54.30-P-6015P
12 Connect ground cable to battery    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR Disconnect/connect battery's ground cable   AR54.10-P-0003P
13 Perform subsequent version coding with STAR DIAGNOSIS. IMPORTANT Register the new system and reconfigure MOST ring (if available).
IMPORTANT Enter the navigation parameters, such as the tire size, with STAR DIAGNOSIS.
 
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Connect STAR DIAGNOSIS and read out fault memory   AD00.00-P-2000-04A
    STAR DIAGNOSIS diagnosis system. *WH58.30-Z-1048-13A 
14 Supplement special equipment IMPORTANT Add designation of appropriate special equipment on vehicle data card and in vehicle data card online: "COMAND APS (with navigation) code 527".
