Remove/install engine hood catch - AR88.40-P-3200P

REMOVING Remove    
DANGER Risk of death  caused by touching parts which conduct high voltages Do not touch parts which conduct high voltages. Persons who wear electronic implants (e.g. heart pacemakers) must not carry work out on the ignition system AS15.10-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/ rear-end door or sliding roof. When moving components, ensure that no body parts or limbs are within the operating range of moving parts. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
NOTES For safety reasons never free up locks and safety hooks (6) by greasing, lubricating, etc. Always replace these components if they malfunction even slightly    
1 Open engine hood IMPORTANT Move engine hood to upright position. AR88.40-P-1000P 
2.1 Unscrew bolts (2) from engine hood catch (1) and upper frame crossmember (3) IMPORTANT Disconnect electrical connector from right engine hood catch (1).
IMPORTANT With anti-theft alarm system (ATA), code 551a, and anti-theft alarm system (ATA) for Switzerland, 552a.
 
3 Unhook engine hood cable (4) from engine hood catch (1) and remove engine hood catch (1) upward    
4 Unscrew bolts (5) and remove safety hooks (6)    
INSTALLING Install     
5 Insert safety hooks (6) in engine hood and fasten with bolts (5) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA88.40-P-1001-01A 
6 Insert engine hood catch (1) in radiator crossmember (3)    
7 Hook engine hood cable (4) into engine hood catch (1)    
8 Clip engine hood cable (4) into radiator crossmember (3)    
9 Position bolts (2) and screw on engine hood catch (1) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA88.40-P-1003-01A 
10 Close engine hood IMPORTANT Check whether engine hood catch (1) is locked; for this purpose, close engine hood and pull upward with a jerk.
IMPORTANT Engine hood must fall automatically into the engine hood catch from a height of 100 - 130 mm (measured above fender tip) and lock.
 
11 Unlock engine hood IMPORTANT Check whether safety hook (6) is arrested in upper frame crossmember (3)  
12 Close engine hood   AR88.40-P-1000P 
13 Check engine hood fit IMPORTANT Observe gaps! If fit is not precise: ↓ *BE60.00-P-1001-01E 
    Adjust engine hood AR88.40-P-3020P
