16.2.00 Value modified from 12 Nm to 8 Nm Value BA88.40-P-1001-01A modified on engine 203 *BA88.40-P-1001-01A 
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/Install    
DANGER Risk of injury  to fingers being jammed or pinched  when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/tailgate or sliding roof. When moving components, ensure that no body parts or limbs are within the operating range of moving parts. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
NOTESInstallation  When replacing engine hood (1) seal seam before painting. IMPORTANT See Paintwork Manual  
1 Open engine hood (1)   AR88.40-P-1000P 
2 Position protective fender covers    
3 Remove air inlet grate (2) on engine hood (1)   AR88.40-P-3001P 
4 Mark installation position of engine hood (1) IMPORTANT On engine hood hinges.  
5 Lift retainer (3) with screwdriver and unhook gas-operated strut (4) NOTES Secure engine hood (1) with aid of 2nd person to prevent injury and damage from falling down.  
6 Unscrew bolts (5) from engine hood (1) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA88.40-P-1001-01A 
7 Remove engine hood (1) and put down on suitable subsurface NOTES Use 2nd person to prevent paint damage.  
8 Install in the reverse order    
9 Adjust engine hood   AR88.40-P-3020P
