Remove/install oil pan - AR01.45-P-7500F

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
IMPORTANT   SPECIAL TOOL External torx set Figure
1 Remove engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105AB
2 Drain and collect engine oil TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA01.45-P-1003-01B 
    FLUID SPECIFICATION *BF18.00-P-1001-01H 
3 Remove engine cover or air filter IMPORTANT
  • On model 210.074/274 the air filter is integrated in the engine trim panel.
  • Remove engine trim panel or air filter by pulling it vertically up and off the cylinder head covers.
 
4 Remove viscous fan (1) IMPORTANT Right-hand thread! AR20.40-P-5660C
5 Remove fan shroud (2).
  • On vehicles fitted with suction fan, first of all separate the plug connection of the suction fan.
 
6.1 Remove resonance tube (9) and resonance unit (10) Model 210 with engine 112/113.940
  • Disconnect connector for hot film mass air flow sensor (HFM) for this step and unbolt resonance pipe at cylinder head cover.

IMPORTANT The resonance pipe is attached at the rear at the intake manifold with a plastic plate.
NOTES Do not damage plastic bracket.

7.1 Remove hot film mass air flow sensor with air intake pipe Model 210.074 074/274/274 with engine 113.980 AR07.07-P-1454AG
8 Detach fixtures of ATF lines at the bottom part and at top part of oil pan    
9 Remove oil pan bottom section (3)   AR01.45-P-7555VA 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA01.45-P-1002-01B 
*BR00.45-Z-1013-01A 
10 Separate electric cable at oil level sensor (B40)    
11 Remove oil pipe (4) from dipstick Unscrew one bolt at cylinder head cover!
Installation:  Install new sealing ring.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA01.20-P-1001-01E 
12 Detach ATF lines on right and left at transmission bell Collect ATF, place ATF lines to the side and seal connections!

13 Unscrew bolts (5) of front engine mounts (8) at front axle carrier (16) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA22.10-P-1001-01L 
14 Put on engine support bracket   AR01.10-P-7500-03B
15 Raise engine NOTES Ensure that the engine and the attached parts do not touch the body!
Do not over-tension coolant lines!
 
16 Prop front axle carrier (16) with inspection pit or assembly lift   AR33.10-P-0100-03B
17 Unscrew bolt (6) of steering joint NOTESInstallation: 
Replace nut and bolt.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.10-P-1001-01B 
18 Unclamp front springs NOTES The front springs must must  be slackened before lowering the front axle carrier (16)! AR32.20-P-0200-01A
19 Unbolt bracket (17) of oil line (18) at front axle carrier (16)    
20 Unscrew bolts (15) at front axle carrier (16) NOTES The bolts (15) are self-tapping; pay attention to the following procedure:
  • Never  re-tap thread in side member.
  • Replace bolts.
  • Use only original bolts (4 x).
  • Do not position bolts at an angle when screwing in.
  • Do not use an impact wrench.
  • Pay attention to tightening torque.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA33.10-P-1003-01A 
21 Lower front axle carrier (16) IMPORTANTInstallation: 
Contact surfaces of front axle carrier to longitudinal member must be cleaned and flat. Insert locating pins (arrows) at front axle carrier into the holes in the longitudinal member when fitting on.
 
22 Remove oil pan top section(7) Take out oil pan to the front in direction of travel for this step; rotate crankshaft slightly, if necessary.
IMPORTANTInstallation: 
  • Pay attention to different lengths and diameters of bolts! ↓

  • Clean sealing surfaces. Apply sealant to the sealant surfaces with a bead of 2.0 mm ± 0.5 mm. The sealant must be applied within 10 minutes! The silicone bead must not be spread! ↓

23 Install in the reverse order    
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the running engine Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.

24 Inspect ATF level of automatic transmission, top up ATF if necessary   AR27.00-P-0101A
25 Run engine and inspect for leaks    
26 Read out fault memory and erase Stored faults which can result from cables being disconnected or from simulation during removal and installation or test work, have to be processed and erased in the fault memories after completing the work: ↓

27 Check chassis alignment and adjust if necessary   AR40.20-P-0322D
