Yes | Go to the next step. |

| No | Engine internal parts are normal.

| 4 | VERIFY SEALING OF ENGINE UNIT

| 12 | INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN PCM AND SPILL VALVE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE (HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP) FOR MALFUNCTION

Yes | Replace the high pressure fuel pump and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to [HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ] in Service Information). |

Yes | Injector driver malfunction.
If the problem remains, overhaul the engine and perform the repair completion verification 1. |
| No | Inspect for the following engine internal parts:

| Repair completion verification 1 | VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED

Yes | Complete the symptom troubleshooting. (Explain contents of repair to customer) |
| No | Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .)
