2	PURPOSE: VERIFY FUEL PUMP UNIT FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to FUEL PUMP UNIT INSPECTION (VIN Y) in service information.) Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to FUEL PUMP UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in service information.)
3	PURPOSE: VERIFY FUEL INJECTOR FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to FUEL INJECTOR INSPECTION (VIN Y) in service information.) Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
3		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to FUEL INJECTOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in service information.)
4	PURPOSE: VERIFY PURGE SOLENOID VALVE FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to PURGE SOLENOID VALVE INSPECTION (VIN Y) in service information.) Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
4		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to PURGE SOLENOID VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in service information.)
5	PURPOSE: VERIFY MAF SENSOR FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to MASS AIR FLOW (MAF) SENSOR INSPECTION (VIN Y) .) Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
5		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to MASS AIR FLOW (MAF) SENSOR/INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR NO. 1 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) .)
6	PURPOSE: VERIFY AIR CLEANER FOR MALFUNCTION Remove the air cleaner element with the engine is idling. (Refer to AIR CLEANER ELEMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in service information.) Does the engine speed increase?	Yes	Inspect the air cleaner element. (Refer to AIR CLEANER ELEMENT INSPECTION (VIN Y) in service information.) If there is any malfunction: Clean or replace the air cleaner element and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to AIR CLEANER ELEMENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in service information.) If there is no malfunction: Go to the next step.
6		No	Go to the next step.
7	PURPOSE: VERIFY MAP SENSOR FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR INSPECTION (VIN Y) in service information.) Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
7		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE (MAP) SENSOR/INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR NO. 2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in service information.)
8	PURPOSE: VERIFY ELECTRIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING DRIVER FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to ELECTRIC VARIABLE VALVE TIMING MOTOR/DRIVER INSPECTION (VIN Y) in service information.) Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.

12	PURPOSE: VERIFY A/F SENSOR FOR MALFUNCTION Inspect the applicable part. (Refer to AIR FUEL RATIO (A/F) SENSOR INSPECTION (VIN Y) in service information.) Is the part normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
12		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1. (Refer to AIR FUEL RATIO (A/F) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in service information.)
Repair completion verification 1	PURPOSE: VERIFY THAT VEHICLE IS REPAIRED Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (see CLEARING DTC .) Replicate the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was detected using the following procedure. Implement the repeatability verification procedure. (See REPEATABILITY VERIFICATION PROCEDURE .) Perform the DTC inspection for the PCM. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Is the same Pending DTC present?	Yes	Refer to the controller area network (CAN) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1. If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM. (Refer to applicable PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) in service information.)
