EGR Cooler Removal/Installation (VIN Y): Notes

Replacement Part 

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
2. Drain the engine coolant. (See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT (VIN Y) .)
3. Remove the plug hole plate. (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) .)
4. Remove the following parts as a single unit: (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (VIN Y) .)
   • Air hose
   • Air cleaner cover
   • Air cleaner element
   • Air cleaner case
   • Fresh-air duct
5. Remove the bolts shown in the figure and set the air separate tank aside.

6. Disconnect the wiring harness clips from the EGR cooler.

7. Disconnect the vacuum hose. (See VACUUM HOSE INSTALLATION NOTE .)

8. Remove the bolts shown in the figure and set the vacuum pipe aside.

9. Remove in the order indicated in the table.

   4	Water hose No. 2 (See WATER HOSE NO. 2 INSTALLATION NOTE  .)
   5	Water hose No. 3 (See WATER HOSE NO. 3 INSTALLATION NOTE  .)
   6	EGR cooler

10. Install in the reverse order of removal.
