Troubleshooting Diagnostic Procedure

B1127-19: (SAS) TROUBLESHOOTING DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Results Action
1 PURPOSE: VERIFY C-62 CONNECTOR 
WARNING:
  • Switch the ignition/main power OFF.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal/negative lead-acid battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION in service information.)
  • Disconnect the C-62 connector.
  • Inspect the C-62 connector. (Corrosion, damage, and disconnected pins)
  • Are the connector and terminal normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform repair completion verification 1.
2 PURPOSE: INSPECT FOR MALFUNCTION IN WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN C-62 CONNECTOR AND SAS CONTROL MODULE 
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform repair completion verification 1.
3 PURPOSE: INSPECT C-62 CONNECTOR CIRCUIT AND OTHER AIR BAG MODULE CIRCUITS FOR SHORT CIRCUIT 
  • Refer to the wiring diagram and inspect for continuity between the following terminals and other air bag module/pre-tensioner seat belt terminals (vehicle wiring harness side).
    • SAS control module terminal 3AN
    • SAS control module terminal 3AJ
      NOTE:
      • Inspect the circuit while shaking the wiring harness between the C-62 connector and the SAS control module.
  • Is there continuity?
Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform repair completion verification 1.
No Go to the next step.
4 PURPOSE: INSPECT PASSENGER-SIDE SIDE AIR BAG MODULE FOR FRONT PASSENGER 
  • Switch the ignition/main power OFF.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal/negative lead-acid battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION in service information.)
  • Connect the SAS control module connectors.
  • Connect all the disconnected connectors other than the C-62 connector.
  • Connect a 2 ohm resistance between terminals 1B and 1A of the C-62 connector (wiring harness side).
  • Connect the negative battery terminal/negative lead-acid battery terminal. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION in service information.)
  • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on)/switch the main power ON (READY off or on).
  • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module.

    (See DTC INSPECTION .)

  • Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Replace the front seat passenger-side side air bag module and perform repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.)
Repair completion verification 1 PURPOSE: VERIFY IF VEHICLE IS REPAIRED 
  • Switch the ignition/main power OFF.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal/negative lead-acid battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION in service information.)
  • Disconnect the 2 ohm resistance.
  • Connect the C-62 connector.
  • Connect the negative battery terminal/negative lead-acid battery terminal. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION in service information.)
  • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on)/switch the main power ON (READY off or on).
  • Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .)
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module.

  • Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes Refer to the CAN (controller area network) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error.
(See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .)
If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1 again.
No Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2 PURPOSE: VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs ARE DISPLAYED 
  • Perform the DTC INSPECTION. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
  • Are other DTCs displayed?
Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No DTC troubleshooting completed.
