B10FD-87: (SAS) TROUBLESHOOTING DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	PURPOSE: VERIFY IF DRIVER-SIDE SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR NO. 1 IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED WARNING: Handling the component parts improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag and the pre-tensioner seat belt, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings and cautions before handling the component parts of the SAS air bag system. (Refer to AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) (Refer to AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) Switch the ignition/main power OFF. Disconnect the negative battery terminal/negative lead-acid battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION in service information.) Verify the driver-side side air bag sensor No. 1 installation condition. (Refer to SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) (Refer to Side Air Bag Sensor No. 1 in service information.) (Refer to Side Air Bag Sensor No. 2 in service information.) Is the installation condition normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
1		No	Correctly install driver-side side air bag sensor No. 1 and perform repair completion verification 1. (Refer to SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) (Refer to Side Air Bag Sensor No. 1 in service information.) (Refer to Side Air Bag Sensor No. 2 in service information.)
2	PURPOSE: INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN DRIVER-SIDE SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR No. 1 AND SAS CONTROL MODULE FOR MALFUNCTION Disconnect the following connectors. Driver-side side air bag sensor No. 1 (Refer to SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) (Refer to Side Air Bag Sensor No. 1 in service information.) (Refer to Side Air Bag Sensor No. 2 in service information.) Clock spring (Refer to CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) Driver-side air bag module (Refer to DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) Driver and passenger-side front pre-tensioner seat belts (Refer to FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.) Driver and passenger-side rear pre-tensioner seat belts (Refer to REAR SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.) SAS control module (Refer to SAS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) Inspect the applicable circuit. (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .) NOTE: Inspect the circuit while shaking the wiring harness between the driver-side air bag sensor No. 1 and the SAS control module. Is the circuit normal?	Yes	Replace driver-side air bag sensor No. 1 and perform repair completion verification 1. (Refer to SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) (Refer to Side Air Bag Sensor No. 1 in service information.) (Refer to Side Air Bag Sensor No. 2 in service information.)
2		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform repair completion verification 1.
Repair completion verification 1	PURPOSE: VERIFY IF VEHICLE IS REPAIRED Switch the ignition/main power OFF. Disconnect the negative battery terminal/negative lead-acid battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION in service information.) Connect the SAS control module connectors. Install/connect the part removed/disconnected during the troubleshooting procedure. Connect the negative battery terminal/negative lead-acid battery terminal. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION in service information.) Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on)/switch the main power ON (READY off or on). Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .) Perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Is the same DTC displayed?	Yes	Refer to the CAN (controller area network) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1 again. If the malfunction is not resolved, replace the SAS control module, then go to the next step. Repair completion verification 1		No	Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2	PURPOSE: VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs ARE DISPLAYED Perform the DTC INSPECTION. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Are other DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
Repair completion verification 2		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
