B00B5-2B: (SAS) TROUBLESHOOTING DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step	Inspection	Results	Action
1	PURPOSE: INSPECT DRIVER-SIDE SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT Display the SAS control module PID [SEAT_TRACK_STAT] using the M-MDS. (See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION .) Is the seat track position sensor circuit normal?	Yes	Refer to the CAN (controller area network) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1 again. If the malfunction is not resolved, replace the SAS control module and perform repair completion verification 2. (Refer to SAS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.)
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	PURPOSE: INSPECT DRIVER-SIDE SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CONNECTOR WARNING: Handling the component parts improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag and the pre-tensioner seat belt, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings and cautions before handling the component parts of the SAS air bag system. (Refer to AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) (Refer to AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) Switch the ignition/main power OFF. Disconnect the negative battery terminal/negative lead-acid battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION in service information.) Disconnect the driver-side seat track position sensor connector. (Refer to SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) Inspect the driver-side seat track position sensor connector. (Corrosion, damage, and disconnected pins) Are the connector and terminal normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
2		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform repair completion verification 1.
3	PURPOSE: INSPECT FOR MALFUNCTION IN WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN DRIVER-SIDE SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR AND SAS CONTROL MODULE Disconnect the following connectors. Clock spring (Refer to CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) Driver-side air bag module (Refer to DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) Passenger-side air bag module (Refer to PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) Front seat driver and passenger-side side air bag modules (Refer to SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) (Refer to PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) (Refer to DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) Rear seat driver and passenger-side side air bag modules (Refer to SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) (Refer to PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) (Refer to DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) Driver and passenger-side curtain air bag modules (Refer to CURTAIN AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) Driver-side far side air bag module Driver and passenger-side front seats (Refer to FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.) Driver and passenger-side front pre-tensioner seat belts (Refer to FRONT SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.) Driver and passenger-side rear pre-tensioner seat belts (Refer to REAR SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION in service information.) SAS control module (Refer to SAS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.) Inspect the applicable circuit. (See CIRCUIT INSPECTION .) (See CONNECTOR INSPECTION .) NOTE: Inspect the circuit while shaking the wiring harness between the driver-side seat track position sensor and the SAS control module. Is the circuit normal?	Yes	Replace the driver-side seat track position sensor and perform repair completion verification 1. (Refer to SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.)
3		No	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform repair completion verification 1.
Repair completion verification 1	PURPOSE: VERIFY IF VEHICLE IS REPAIRED Switch the ignition/main power OFF. Disconnect the negative battery terminal/negative lead-acid battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION in service information.) Connect the driver-side seat track position sensor connector. Connect the negative battery terminal/negative lead-acid battery terminal. (Refer to NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION in service information.) Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on)/switch the main power ON (READY off or on). Clear the DTC recorded in the memory. (See CLEARING DTC .) Perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Is the same DTC displayed?	Yes	Refer to the CAN (controller area network) malfunction diagnosis flow to inspect for a CAN communication error. (See MALFUNCTION DIAGNOSIS FLOW [CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN)] .) If the CAN communication is normal, perform the diagnosis from Step 1 again. If the malfunction is not resolved, replace the SAS control module, then go to the next step. (Refer to SAS CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA/ISRAEL SPEC.] in service information.)
Repair completion verification 1		No	Go to the next step.
Repair completion verification 2	PURPOSE: VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs ARE DISPLAYED Perform the DTC INSPECTION. (See DTC INSPECTION .) Are other DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
Repair completion verification 2		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
