Diagnostic Procedure

A/C IS ALWAYS ON OR A/C COMPRESSOR RUNS CONTINUOUSLY DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

Step Inspection Results Action
1 VERIFY RELATED DTCs 
  • Perform the DTC inspection for the following modules. (See DTC INSPECTION .)
    • PCM
    • Body control module (BCM)
    • Dash-electrical supply unit
  • Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes Repair or replace the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

(See DTC TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-G 2.5T)] .)
(See DTC TABLE [BCM] .)
(See DTC TABLE [DASH_ESU] .)
No Go to the next step.
2 DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS MAGNETIC CLUTCH OR OTHER 
  • Start the engine and idle it.
  • Turn on the air conditioner switch.
  • Remove the A/C relay. (Refer to RELAY LOCATION in service information.)
  • Is the magnetic clutch engaged?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Go to Step 7.
3 INSPECT IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS MAGNETIC CLUTCH OR MAGNETIC CLUTCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT  Yes Go to Step 5.
No Go to the next step.
4 INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN A/C RELAY AND MAGNETIC CLUTCH  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
5 INSPECT MAGNETIC CLUTCH CLEARANCE FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Adjust the magnetic clutch clearance and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to MAGNETIC CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT [SKYACTIV-G 2.0, SKYACTIV-G 2.5] , or MAGNETIC CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T] in service information.)
6 INSPECT MAGNETIC CLUTCH FOR MALFUNCTION  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
7 DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS A/C RELAY CONTROL SIGNAL OR A/C REQUEST SIGNAL 
  • Access the PCM PID [A/C_SW] using the M-MDS. (See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION .)
  • Verify the monitor the while turning on and off the air conditioner switch on the control control unit.
  • Is the monitor value always [TRUE]?
Yes Climate control unit malfunction can be considered.
(Climate control unit always transmits A/C request signal.)
No Go to the next step.
8 INSPECT A/C RELAY FOR MALFUNCTION 
  • Inspect the A/C relay. (Refer to RELAY INSPECTION in service information.)
  • Is the relay normal?
Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
(Refer to RELAY LOCATION in service information.)
9 INSPECT WIRING HARNESS (INCLUDING CONNECTOR/TERMINAL) BETWEEN A/C RELAY AND PCM  Yes Go to the next step.
No Repair or replace the malfunctioning location and perform the repair completion verification 1.
Repair completion verification 1 VERIFY THAT MALFUNCTION SYMPTOMS DO NOT RECUR AFTER REPAIR 
  • Does the malfunction symptom recur?
Yes If the malfunction recurs, perform the diagnosis from Step 1.
No Troubleshooting completed. (Explain repair contents to customer.)
