Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection		Action
1	INSPECT AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CONNECTOR CONDITION Switch the ignition to off. Disconnect the ambient temperature sensor connector. Inspect the connector for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion). Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace the connector or terminal, then go to Step 6.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	INSPECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONNECTOR CONDITION Disconnect the instrument cluster connector. Inspect the connector for poor connection (such as damaged/pulled-out pins, and corrosion). Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace the connector or terminal, then go to Step 6.
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	INSPECT AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND Inspect for continuity between ambient temperature sensor terminal B (wiring harness-side) and body ground. Is there continuity?	Yes	Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible short to ground, then go to Step 6.
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	INSPECT AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Inspect the ambient temperature sensor. (See AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSPECTION [MANUAL AIR CONDITIONER] .) (See AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSPECTION [FULL-AUTO AIR CONDITIONER] .) Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Replace the ambient temperature sensor, then go to Step 6. 4		No	Go to the next step.
5	INSPECT AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT FOR OPEN CIRCUIT Inspect for continuity between following terminals: Ambient temperature sensor terminal B (wiring harness-side) and instrument cluster terminal 1B (wiring harness-side) Ambient temperature sensor terminal A (wiring harness-side) and instrument cluster terminal 1C (wiring harness-side) Is there continuity?	Yes	Go to the next step.
5		No	Repair or replace the wiring harness for a possible open circuit, then go to the next step.
6	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED Make sure to reconnect the disconnected connectors. Clear the DTC from the instrument cluster memory using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [INSTRUMENT CLUSTER] .) Perform the instrument cluster DTC inspection using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [INSTRUMENT CLUSTER] .) Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Replace the instrument cluster, then go to the next step. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
6		No	Go to the next step.
7	VERIFY THAT NO OTHER DTCs ARE RECORDED Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [INSTRUMENT CLUSTER] .)
7		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
