Yes | Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available Service Bulletins.

| 3 | VERIFY RELATED PENDING CODE OR STORED DTCs

Yes | Go to the appropriate DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE .) |

| 4 | VERIFY CURRENT INPUT SIGNAL STATUS (KEY TO ON/IDLE)

Yes | Inspect the suspected circuit or part or both according to inspection results. (See PCM INSPECTION .) Then go to Step 17. |
| No | Go to the next step. | ||
| 5 | VERIFY CURRENT INPUT SIGNAL STATUS UNDER TROUBLE CONDITION

| 6 | INSPECT CMP SENSOR

Yes | Inspect the installation condition for damage to the timing belt and gears, and repair malfunctioning parts.

| 7 | VERIFY CKP SENSOR INSTALLATION CONDITION

Yes | Retighten the CKP sensor, then go to Step 17. (See CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) |

| 8 | INSPECT IGNITION SYSTEM OPERATION

Yes | Go to the next step. |
| No | Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the spark test results, then go to Step 17. | ||
| 9 | INSPECT MAF PID

| No | Go to the next step. | ||
| 10 | INSPECT FOR EXCESSIVE AIR SUCTION IN INTAKE AIR SYSTEM

Yes | Repair or replace the suspected part, then go to Step 17. |
| No | Replace the MAF/IAT sensor, then go to Step 17. (See MASS AIR FLOW (MAF)/INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE (IAT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .) |

| 11 | INSPECT FUEL LINE PRESSURE

Yes | If the fuel line pressure is too low, go to the next step. If the fuel line pressure is excessively high, check as follows:

| No | Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the variable valve timing control system inspection results, then go to Step 17. | ||
| 14 | INSPECT OPERATION OF PURGE SOLENOID VALVE

Yes | Go to the next step. |
| No | Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the purge control system inspection results, then go to Step 17. | ||
| 15 | INSPECT SEALING OF ENGINE COOLANT PASSAGE

Yes | Air penetrates due to poor sealing of the head gasket or other areas between the combustion chamber and the engine coolant passage. Repair or replace malfunctioning parts, then go to Step 17. |
| No | Go to the next step. | ||
| 16 | INSPECT ENGINE COMPRESSION

Yes | Inspect the PCV valve.
(The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.) |
| No | Perform an engine overhaul for repairs, then go to the next step. | ||
| 17 | VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P0300:00 HAS BEEN COMPLETED

Yes | Repeat the inspection from Step 1.

| 18 | VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
