Valve Tappet Removal/Installation - 4.0L

  1. Remove the valve covers. See VALVE COVER - RH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 4.0L  or See VALVE COVER - LH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 4.0L  .
  2. Remove the fuel supply manifold. See FUEL INJECTION SUPPLY MANIFOLD AND FUEL INJECTOR - 2.3L REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .
    NOTE:
    • Mark each camshaft roller follower to ensure its original position during reassembly.
  3. Using the special tool, remove the camshaft roller followers.
    NOTE:
    • Lubricate the parts with clean engine oil prior to installing.

  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
