Timing Belt Removal/Installation: Notes

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the CMP sensor and CKP sensor. (See CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR .) (See CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR .)
  3. Remove the ignition coils. (See IGNITION COIL PACK .)
  4. Remove the spark plug.
  5. Remove in the order indicated in the figure.

  6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  7. Inspect the air gap. (See CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AIR GAP )
  8. Adjust the drive belt deflection/tension. (See DRIVE BELT ADJUSTMENT .)
  9. Start the engine and:
    1. Inspect the pulleys and drive belt for runout and contact.
    2. Inspect the ignition timing. (See IGNITION TIMING INSPECTION .)
