Removal (GF4A-EL)

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Clean the transaxle exterior thoroughly with a steam cleaner or cleaning solvents. Drain the ATF. See DRAINING & REFILLING  under LUBRICATION.
  2. Drain coolant. See COOLING SYSTEM BLEEDING in 2.5L V6 article in ENGINES. Remove the splash shield. Remove the oil cooler pipes and radiator hose. See OIL COOLER HOSES & PIPES (GF4A-EL)  .
  3. Remove the valve body cover and gasket. Disconnect the solenoid valve and Transaxle Fluid Temperature (TFT) sensor harness connectors. See Fig 1 . Remove the valve body assembly. Note colors of connectors and locations for reassembly reference.
