Cooling System Bleeding

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Mazda Millenia and 2001 Mazda 626. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Fill radiator and coolant reservoir. Start engine and allow to idle until engine is at normal operating temperature. If temperature increases beyond normal there is excessive air in system. Stop engine and allow to cool, and refill radiator and reservoir. Accelerate engine to 2200-2800 RPM for 5 minutes. Repeat several times. Shut engine off and allow engine to cool. Remove filler cap. Verify coolant level is near filler neck. If coolant level is not near filler neck, repeat procedure. Fill coolant reservoir to FULL level.
