Clutch and Damper Unit: Removal

Remove the transmission. Refer to: Transmission - 2.0L Duratec-HE (125kW/170PS) - MI4 .
Mount the transmission on the wooden block. Use the General Equipment: Wooden Block

Remove the clutch actuator motor A.
1. Unlock the electrical connector.
2. Push the electrical connector lock outward.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
4. Remove the bolts.
5. Remove the clutch actuator motor.

Remove the clutch actuator motor B.
1. Unlock the electrical connector.
2. Push the electrical connector lock outward.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector.
4. Remove the bolts.
5. Remove the clutch actuator motor.

Use part: -7064- clutch hub snap ring 71.5 X 2 Remove and discard the clutch hub snap ring.

NOTE: Note the position of the component before removal.

Align the position of clutch assembly and remove the clutch hub.

Install the special tool and inspect the proper alignment with clutch assembly. Use Special Service Tool: 307-675 Fixture, Clutch Remover/Installer.

1. NOTE: Only tighten the bolt finger tight at this stage.
  
  Install the special tool.
2. Using the special tools, turn the center bolt of the special tool with a maximum of 5 Nm (44 lb-in) of torque to push the clutch down to release the pressure from the hollow input shaft snap ring. Use Special Service Tool: 307-675 Fixture, Clutch Remover/Installer.
  Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

Use part: -7064- hollow input shaft snap ring 35 X 1.8 Remove and discard the input shaft snap ring.

NOTE: Make sure the lifting legs are installed on the clutch studs marked with the stamped manufacturing mark as shown.

NOTE: Installing the lifting legs on unmarked clutch studs will damage the pressure plate adjuster.

NOTE: Make sure the lifting leg with the angle is in the location shown.

Install the special tool, making sure the lifting legs are installed on the clutch studs marked with the stamped manufacturing mark as shown. Use Special Service Tool: 307-675 Fixture, Clutch Remover/Installer.

Turn the center bolt with approximately 5 Nm (44 lb-in) of torque until the clutch is free of the input shaft. Use Special Service Tool: 307-675 Fixture, Clutch Remover/Installer.
Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

Clean the transmission input shaft splines and clutch release bearing mounting surface.
