Self-Diagnostic System

NOTE: Before beginning self-diagnostics, perform TROUBLE SHOOTING  .

Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester to Data Link Connector (DLC) located below instrument panel. Using NGS tester, perform data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - CONTINENTAL article. If NGS tester displays CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70=ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, repair communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - CONTINENTAL article. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Virtual Image Cluster (VIC), perform TEST B: NO COMMUNICATION WITH VIRTUAL IMAGE CLUSTER (VIC)  under SYSTEM TESTS. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Lighting Control Module (LCM), perform TEST C: NO COMMUNICATION WITH LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE (LCM)  under SYSTEM TESTS. If NGS tester displays NO/RESP/NOT EQUIP for Driver's Door Module (DDM), perform TEST AJ: NO COMMUNICATION WITH DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE (DDM)  under SYSTEM TESTS. If NGS tester displays SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record DTCs from all modules. Erase DTCs from all modules. Perform VIC, DDM and LCM self-test. Perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See VIRTUAL IMAGE CLUSTER (VIC) DTC INDEX  , DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE (DDM) DTC INDEX  and/or LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE (LCM) DTC INDEX  table. Codes listed in these tables are only for testing covered in this article. For complete DTC listing, see MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - CONTINENTAL article. If self-test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table under SYSTEM TESTS.

(2) Using NGS tester, retrieve and record DTCs. Perform instrument cluster self-test. If DTC B1342 still exists, replace instrument cluster.
DRIVER'S DOOR MODULE (DDM) DTC INDEX

(2) Using NGS tester, retrieve and document all continuous DTCs. Perform Driver's Door Module (DDM) self-test. If DTC B1342 is retrieved again, replace DDM.

(2) Using NGS tester, retrieve and document continuous DTCs. Clear all DTCs. Perform Lighting Control Module (LCM) self-test. If DTC B1342 is retrieved again, replace LCM.
(3) Perform TEST B: NO POWER IN ACC POSITION under SYSTEM TESTS in STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES - CONTINENTAL article.
