Test Ad: Low Fuel Display Not Operating Properly
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, retrieve and record continuous instrument cluster and Rear Electronic Module (REM) DTCs. Clear instrument cluster and REM DTCs. Using NGS tester, perform instrument cluster and REM self-test. If no instrument cluster and REM DTCs are retrieved, go to next step. If REM DTC B1201 or instrument cluster DTC U1131 is retrieved, perform TEST D: FUEL GAUGE INACCURATE . If any other instrument cluster and REM DTCs are retrieved, repair code related problem. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTC INDEX and/or REAR ELECTRONIC MODULE DTC INDEX table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Check fuel gauge operation. If fuel gauge operates properly, go to next step. If fuel gauge does not operate properly, perform TEST D: FUEL GAUGE INACCURATE .
- Using NGS tester, select Message Center Module (MCM) active command MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAY CHARACTER. Trigger SEGMENTS ON, then OFF. All message center segments should illuminate when triggered ON and should not illuminate when triggered OFF. If message center segments operate as specified, repair malfunction message center by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table. If message center segments do not operate as specified, replace instrument cluster.
