Lower Control Arm: Installation

    NOTE: All fasteners in contact with aluminum lower control arm have been coated to minimize effects of galvanic corrosion. Use only approved fastener finishes.
  1. Install toe compensating link on lower control arm. DO NOT tighten flag bolt. Install height sensor bracket assembly. Install lower arm bolts, but DO NOT tighten inner pivot bolts. Inspect plastic cap used at lower arm inner pivot forward attachment. Replace if cracked, loose or missing. Install shock absorber to lower arm. Ensure washers are between shock inner bushing and aluminum lower arm casting. Tighten shock absorber bolt to 83-113 ft. lbs. (113-153 N.m).
  2. Install air spring assembly into lower arm spring pocket opening, making sure base of air spring is fully seated and air spring is not kinked. Position lower arm assembly to operating ride height position and tighten lower arm-to-subframe forward bolt to 166-203 ft. lbs. (225-275 N.m). Align rearward inner pivot cam bolt and cam washer to marked position and tighten to 141-191 ft. lbs. (191-259 N.m).
  3. NOTE: Failure to properly position components will cause bushing wind up when assembled and incorrect ride heights. Resulting conditions will be misalignment, premature bushing wear and/or tire wear.
  4. Install stabilizer bar links into lower arm. Install height sensor to lower arm bracket by snapping onto ball stud. Install knuckle. Ensure air spring is properly seated and centered in lower arm pocket. Inflate air spring assembly. See AIR SPRING FILL PROCEDURE . Ensure all fasteners are properly tightened. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table.
