Test N: Vehicle Dynamics Module Detects Low Battery

  1. Check Charging System  Start engine and allow to idle. Measure voltage between battery terminals. If voltage is 12 volts or more, turn ignition off and go to next step. If voltage is less than 12 volts, repair charging system. See GENERATOR article in ELECTRICAL section.
  2. Check Voltage Supply  Install Breakout Box (007-00033). Start engine. Ensure all accessories are off. Measure voltage between test pins No. 60 (Gray wire) and No. 36, 37, 56, 57 and 58 at breakout box. If any reading is less than 12 volts, go to next step. If all readings are 12 volts or more, and Code B1318 is a hard code, replace VDM. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE  . Adjust riding height. See RIDING HEIGHT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION. If all readings are 12 volts or more, and Code B1318 is a continuous (intermittent) code, check for intermittents. See WIGGLE TEST  and SEMI-ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES.
  3. Check Ground Circuits  Measure resistance between ground and breakout box test pins No. 6, 39, 40 and 60. If all readings are less than 3 ohms, no problem is indicated at this time. Fault may be intermittent. See WIGGLE TEST and SEMI-ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES  . If any reading is 3 ohms or more, repair open in Gray wire between ground and VDM. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE  .
