Test H: Vent Solenoid Shorted To Ground

NOTE: Vent solenoid is an integral part of air compressor. If vent solenoid is defective, replace air compressor assembly.

  1. Check Air Compressor Connector

Disconnect air compressor connector. See Figure or Figure . Check connector for corrosion, bent pins and damaged wires. If connector is okay, go to next step. If connector is worn or damaged, repair as necessary and repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE  .
  2. Check Vent Solenoid Resistance

Measure resistance between Pink and Gray wire at air compressor connector. If resistance is 19-24 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 19-24 ohms, replace air compressor. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE  . Adjust riding height. See RIDING HEIGHT  under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
  3. Check Circuit No. 421

Disconnect Vehicle Dynamics Module (VDM) 60-pin connector. VDM is located in trunk, behind package tray. Disconnect air compressor connector. Measure resistance between ground and Pink wire at air compressor wiring harness connector. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink wire between VDM and vent solenoid. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE  .
  4. Check Circuit No. 430

Install Breakout Box (007-00033), leaving VDM disconnected. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 60 (Gray Wire) at breakout box. If resistance 3 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is 3 ohms or more, repair open in Gray wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE  .
  5. Check VDM

Connected VDM to breakout box. Hook-up New Generation Star (NGS) tester. See EQUIPMENT HOOK-UP  under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS. Rotate dial (on scan tester) to menu item DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK, and press trigger to select. Select VDM-VEHICLE DYNAMICS MODULE. Select ACTIVE COMMAND MODES. Select AIR SUSPENSION CONTROLS. Command VENT: ON. Measure voltage between test pins No. 60 (Gray wire) and No. 42 (Pink wire) at compressor harness connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, replace VDM. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE  . Adjust riding height. See RIDING HEIGHT under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION  .
  6. Check Circuit Voltage

Reconnect air compressor connector. Command VENT: ON as in step 5). Measure voltage between test pins No. 60 (Gray wire) and No. 42 (Pink wire) at breakout box. If battery voltage is present, no problem is indicated at this time. Fault may be intermittent. See WIGGLE TEST and SEMI-ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES  . If battery voltage is not present, replace air compressor. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE  .
