Test A: Air Leveling Disabled Message On At All Times
- Check Sensor Connectors Disconnect all height sensor connectors. See Figure or Figure . Check connectors for corrosion, bent pins and damaged wires. If connectors are okay, go to next step. If connectors are worn or damaged, repair as necessary and repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES .
- Check Air Suspension Switch Connector Disconnect air suspension switch connector. Switch is located on left side of trunk. See Figure or Figure . Check connector for corrosion, bent pins and damaged wires. If connector is okay, go to next step. If connector is worn or damaged, repair as necessary and repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE .
- Check Vehicle Dynamics Module Connector Disconnect Vehicle Dynamics Module (VDM) connector. VDM is located in trunk, behind package tray.
- Check Air Suspension Switch Measure resistance between switch terminals of air suspension switch. If resistance is less than 3 ohms with switch on and infinite with switch off, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace switch and repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE .
- Check For Short To Ground Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 48 (Brown/Pink wire) at VDM connector. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/Pink wire. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE .
- Check For Short To Ground Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 15 (Red/Black wire) at VDM connector. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/Black wire. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE .
- Check For Open Circuit Measure resistance of Brown/Pink wire between terminal No. 48 at VDM connector and air suspension switch connector. If resistance is 3 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 3 ohms, repair open in Brown/Pink wire. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE .
- Check For Open Circuit Measure resistance of Red/Black wire between terminal No. 15 at VDM connector and air suspension switch connector. If resistance is 3 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 3 ohms, repair open in Red/Black wire. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE .
- Measure Circuit Voltage Install Breakout Box (007-00033). Hook-up New Generation Star (NGS) tester. See EQUIPMENT HOOK-UP under TESTING & DIAGNOSIS. Rotate dial (on scan tester) to menu item DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK, and press trigger to select. Select VDM-VEHICLE DYNAMICS MODULE. Select ACTIVE COMMAND MODES. Select AIR SUSPENSION CONTROLS. Command HGT POWER: ON. Measure voltage between test pins No. 15 (Red/Black wire) and No. 46 (Black/Pink wire) at breakout box. If voltage is 4.8-5.2 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 4.8-5.2 volts, replace VDM. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE . Adjust riding height. See RIDING HEIGHT under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION.
- Check Voltage between Terminals No. 46 & 48 Reconnect air suspension switch. Ensure switch is in ON position. Command HGT POWER: ON as in step 9). Measure voltage between test pins No. 46 (Black/Pink wire) and No. 48 (Brown/Pink wire) at Breakout Box. If voltage is 4.8-5.2 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 4.8-5.2 volts, replace VDM. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE . Adjust riding height. See RIDING HEIGHT under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION .
- Check Height Sensor Voltage Ensure air suspension switch is in ON position. Command HGT POWER: ON as in step 9). Reconnect height sensors one at a time and measure voltage between breakout box test pins No. 15 (Red/Black wire) and No. 46 (Black/Pink wire). If all readings are 4.8-5.2 volts, go to next step. If any reading is not 4.8-5.2 volts, replace suspect height sensor. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE . Adjust riding height. See RIDING HEIGHT under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION .
- Check For VDM Failure Return to OPERATIONAL MODE. Ensure air suspension switch is in ON position and all air suspension components are reconnected. Check message center. If AIR LEVELING DISABLED message is displayed, replace VDM. Repeat ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST and PNEUMATIC TEST under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE . Adjust riding height. See RIDING HEIGHT under ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTION . If AIR LEVELING DISABLED message is not displayed, no problem is indicated at this time. Fault may be intermittent. See WIGGLE TEST and SEMI-ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL under DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODES .
