Removal [08/2023 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  2. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER LH 
  3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER HEAT INSULATOR (for PHEV Model) 
    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 14
  4. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (for Engine [for HEV Model]) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  5. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:
    • To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

  6. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY (for HEV Model) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [10/2022 - ]

  7. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for HEV Model) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  8. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Sensor 1) 

    Refer to REMOVAL [08/2023 - ]

  9. REMOVE HEATER AND ACCESSORY SUB-ASSEMBLY (for PHEV Model) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  10. DISCONNECT LIQUID TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY A w/ DISCHARGE TUBE (for PHEV Model)

      1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the liquid tube sub-assembly A w/ discharge tube.
      2. Remove the O-ring from the liquid tube sub-assembly A w/ discharge tube.
        NOTE:

        Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  11. REMOVE WIRING HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    WARNING:
    • To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

  12. SEPARATE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 
    WARNING:
    • To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

  13. SEPARATE NO. 1 FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR

  14. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY 
    WARNING:

  15. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD

      *A for PHEV Model *B for HEV Model
      *1 No. 1 Exhaust Manifold Heat Insulator *2 Exhaust Manifold
      *3 No. 1 front floor heat insulator - -
      1. Remove the 7 nuts and separate the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head sub-assembly.
      2. Remove the No. 1 front floor heat insulator, No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator and exhaust manifold.
  16. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO HEAD GASKET
