DTC P0705: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction (PRNDL Input) [09/2014 - 10/2015]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IG1 NO. 3 FUSE - PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the F57 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

      (to Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly)
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F57-2 (RB) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Engine switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NSW TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F57-4 (B) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Engine switch off Below 1 V

  3. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 (RB) - 6 (PL) and 4 (B) - 5 (L) Shift lever in P Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not in P 10 kΩ or higher
      1 (RL) - 2 (RB) Shift lever in R Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not in R 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (RB) - 9 (NL) and 4 (B) - 5 (L) Shift lever in N Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not in N 10 kΩ or higher
      2 (RB) - 7 (DL) Shift lever in D, M, "+" or "-" Below 1 Ω

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IG1 NO. 3 FUSE - TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the F57 park/neutral position switch assembly connector.

      (to Transmission Control Switch (Transmission Floor Shift Assembly))
    2. Disconnect the O77 transmission control switch (transmission floor shift assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O77-4 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Engine switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (IG) - 5 (S) Shift lever in M, "+" or "-" Below 1 Ω
      Shift lever not in M, "+" or "-" 10 kΩ or higher

    REPLACE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY). Refer to  COMPONENTS [09/2014 - ]

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY, TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Connect the O77 transmission control switch (transmission floor shift assembly) connector.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      F4-12 (P) - Body ground Shift lever in P 11 to 14 V

      F4-13 (N) - Body ground Shift lever in N 11 to 14 V
      Shift lever not in N Below 1 V
      F4-14 (D) - Body ground Shift lever in D, M, "+" or "-" 11 to 14 V

      A71-16 (S) - Body ground Shift lever in M, "+" or "-" 11 to 14 V

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the A71 ECM connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F57-4 (B) - A71-29 (NSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      F57-4 (B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A71-29 (NSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  COMPONENTS [09/2014 - 10/2015]
