Removal [09/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 1

  2. REMOVE FRONT FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 2

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  4. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 5

  5. REMOVE OIL PAN PROTECTOR ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 12

  6. DRAIN TRANSFER OIL 

    Refer to REPLACEMENT [09/2015 - ] )

  7. DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 20

  8. REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  9. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  10. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ] )

  11. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER TUBE 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 24

  12. REMOVE GROUND WIRE 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and ground wire.

  13. SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 26

  14. REMOVE NO. 2 FRAME CROSSMEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 27

  15. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 28

  16. REMOVE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Tilt the transmission downward.

      NOTE:

      Make sure the cooling fan does not contact the fan shroud.

    2. Detach the 2 clamps and disconnect the transfer breather hose sub-assembly.

    3. w/ Temperature Sensor:

      Detach the 3 clamps and disconnect the 3 connectors.

    4. w/o Temperature Sensor:

      Detach the 3 clamps and disconnect the 2 connectors.

    5. Detach the 2 clamps.

    6. Remove the bolt and bracket.
    7. Support the transfer assembly with a transmission jack.

      NOTE:

      Secure the transfer assembly to the transmission jack using a belt, etc. to prevent it from falling.

    8. Remove the 8 bolts.

      WARNING:

      Be sure to perform this procedure with several people as the transfer assembly is very heavy.

    9. Pull the transfer assembly straight up and remove it from the transmission.
      NOTE:

      Take care not to damage the adaptor oil seal with the transfer input shaft spline.
