Disassembly [12/2017 - 09/2018]: Procedure

  1. PRECAUTION 
    NOTE:

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    See step  24

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  4. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM UPPER COVER LH 
    1. Detach the claw and remove the rear door trim upper cover LH.

  5. REMOVE REAR DOOR ARMREST COVER LH 
    1. Detach the claw and remove the rear door armrest cover LH.

  6. REMOVE REAR DOOR NO. 2 ARMREST COVER LH 
    1. Detach the claw and guide and remove the rear door No. 2 armrest cover LH.

  7. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. w/o Rear Door Sunshade:
      1. Remove the 3 screws.

        Remove in this Direction
      2. Place your hand at the position shown in the illustration, and while pulling the rear door trim board sub-assembly LH toward you, detach the clip and disconnect the rear door trim board sub-assembly LH from the rear door panel.
      3. Pull the rear door trim board sub-assembly LH in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration to detach the claw and remove the rear door trim board sub-assembly LH.

    2. w/ Rear Door Sunshade:
      1. Remove the 3 screws.

      2. Place your hands at the positions shown in the illustration, and while pulling the rear door trim board sub-assembly LH toward you, detach the clip and disconnect the rear door trim board sub-assembly LH from the rear door panel.
      3. Pull the rear door trim board sub-assembly LH in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration to detach the claw and remove the rear door trim board sub-assembly LH.

    3. Disconnect the rear door lock remote control cable assembly LH from the rear door inside handle sub-assembly LH.

  10. REMOVE REAR DOOR LOCK CONTROL KNOB BEZEL LH 
    1. Detach the claw and remove the rear door lock control knob bezel LH together with the door lock control knob holder LH.

  11. REMOVE DOOR LOCK CONTROL KNOB HOLDER LH 
    1. Detach the claw and remove the door lock control knob holder LH.

  12. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  13. REMOVE NO. 2 COOLER THERMISTOR (for 4 Zone Type)

  14. REMOVE REAR DOOR INSIDE HANDLE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the 3 screws and the rear door inside handle sub-assembly LH.

  15. REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM COVER LH 
    1. Using a clip remover, detach the clip.

    2. Slide the rear door trim cover LH in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration to detach the clip and remove the rear door trim cover LH.

    3. Remove the remaining 2 clips on the vehicle side.
  16. REMOVE REAR DOOR NO. 2 FRAME GARNISH LH 
    1. w/o Rear Door Sunshade:
      1. Using a clip remover, detach the clip.

      2. Detach the guide in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration and remove the rear door No. 2 frame garnish RH.

  17. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRAME GARNISH LH 
    1. w/o Rear Door Sunshade:
      1. Using a clip remover, detach the clip.

  25. REMOVE REAR MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU LH 
    1. Disconnect the clamp and 2 connectors.

  26. REMOVE REAR DOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER LH 
    1. Disconnect the clamps and connectors.
    2. Detach the clip and remove the rear door service hole cover LH.

    3. Pull out the rear door lock remote control cable assembly LH and rear door inside locking cable assembly LH from the rear door service hole cover LH as shown in the illustration.

  27. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRONT BELT MOULDING END COVER LH 
    1. Apply protective tape around the rear door front belt moulding end cover LH.

    2. Using moulding remover D, detach the claw in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration and remove the rear door front belt moulding end cover LH.

  29. REMOVE REAR DOOR NO. 2 WEATHERSTRIP LH 

    HINT: 

    When removing the rear door No. 2 weatherstrip LH, heat the rear door panel and rear door No. 2 weatherstrip LH using a heat light.

    Standard

    Item Temperature
    Rear Door Panel 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)
    Rear Door No. 2 Weatherstrip LH 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)
    WARNING:
    • Do not touch the heat light and heated parts.
    • Touching the heat light may result in burns.
    • Touching heated parts for a long time may result in burns.

  35. REMOVE REAR DOOR GLASS RUN LH 
    1. Remove the rear door glass run LH from the rear door quarter window glass sub-assembly LH.

  36. REMOVE REAR DOOR GLASS SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Connect the 2 rear multiplex network door ECU LH connectors.

    2. Remove the plug hole.
    3. Connect the connector and temporarily install the rear door trim board sub-assembly LH.

    4. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    5. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    6. Move the rear door glass sub-assembly LH until the installation bolts can be seen.
    7. Turn the engine switch off.
    8. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      WARNING:
      • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the battery negative (-) terminal to disable the SRS system.
      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2017 - 09/2018]

    9. Disconnect the connector and remove the rear door trim board sub-assembly LH.
    10. Remove the rear multiplex network door ECU LH.
    11. Remove the 2 bolts and the rear door glass sub-assembly LH from the rear door window regulator sub-assembly LH.

      NOTE:

      Do not damage the rear door glass sub-assembly LH.

  37. REMOVE REAR DOOR FRONT WINDOW GUIDE SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the Bolt.

    2. Detach the claw and remove the rear door front window guide sub-assembly LH.
  38. REMOVE REAR DOOR REAR WINDOW FRAME LH 
    1. Set a 4.0 mm diameter drill bit into an air drill.
    2. Wind vinyl tape around the 4.0 mm diameter drill bit 5.0 mm from the tip of the drill.

      A 5.0 mm (0.197 in.)

      HINT: 

      Wind vinyl tape around the drill bit to prevent drilling too deep.

    3. Lightly press the air drill against the rivets, drill off the flanges of the rivets and remove the 4 rivets.

      WARNING:

      Be careful of the drilled rivets as they are hot

      NOTE:
      • Pressing the air drill excessively will cause the rivet to turn and result in the rivet not being drilled.
      • Do not pry the rivet with the air drill. This may cause damage to the installation hole of the rivet or the drill bit.
      • Wear protective glasses.
    4. Detach the clip and remove the rear door rear window frame LH.

      NOTE:

      Do not damage the vehicle body with the rear door rear window frame LH.

  39. REMOVE REAR DOOR BELT MOULDING SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
